Considering that the city of Rio de Janeiro will host the World Youth Day 2013, the Solidary Leadership Project’s 3rd edition will be very special because besides congregating students from several countries around the world it will be a good preparation for the WYD.

The workcamp will be set up at the village of Campo Alegre, a very poor district of Paranã-TO located nearly 600 km from Brasilia, Brazil’s capital. Campo Alegres’ population (around 700 people) lacks support in health, food, education and other basic conditions.

The goals of Solidary Leadership + WYD2013 are:

-Health and dental treatment for the local population;
-Improvements in the local day care center (internal and external painting, wiring and bathroom appliances);
-Recreation activities for the children;
-Healthcare orientation for the families;
-Humanitarian visits to the community’s families to deliver essential goods.

Besides working in a social project, the participants will have the opportunity to visit Brasília, Brazil’s capital, acknowledged by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Brasilia’s architecture and beauty attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world.
